Carers UK launch State of Caring 2024 Survey
Carers UK launched its State of Caring 2024 survey this week, and we need your help to get as many carers to complete the survey as possible to ensure their voices are heard by the next government, whoever that may be.
Action for Carers is affiliated with Carers UK, and we also receive the data and can use it to monitor needs and ask for change here in Surrey.
What’s the survey for?
The annual State of Caring survey is the UK’s most comprehensive study of carers’ experiences. Last year, over 11,000 carers completed the study. This year, Carers UK aims to reach even more carers. With a new UK Government soon to be elected, there has never been a more important time to make sure that carers have a high profile and get concrete change.
Last year’s survey responses helped Carers UK, working with other charities across the UK:
- Recommend actions to combat carer poverty through the Carer Poverty Coalition, comprising 130 national and local organizations.
- Shape the Carers Manifesto urging political parties to establish a new social contract for unpaid carers.
- Collaborate with the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Carers to call for a National Carers Strategy.
- Successfully advocate for the Carer’s Leave Act 2023, allowing carers to take unpaid leave.
- Campaign for fairer Carer’s Allowance processes, leading to government commitments for improvements.
- Push for better support and rights for carers.
The survey results were also featured on national TV, local BBC radio, and numerous newspapers, spotlighting unpaid carers across the UK.
If you’re a carer, please complete this survey and share it with friends, family, and social media to ensure more carers are reached. The survey closes on 11 August, and results will be shared later this year.
